National Suicide Prevention Lifeline

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a United States-based suicide prevention network of over 160 crisis centers that provides 24/7 service via a toll-free hotline with the number 1-800-273-8255. It is available to anyone in suicidal crisis or emotional distress. You can also call 988, which is a quicker number to reach the hotline.

The National Alliance on Mental Health provides local resources for substance use, mental health, and behavioral health support across the state of North Carolina by calling 1-800-451-9682.

Domestic Violence Hotline

The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides essential tools and support to help survivors of domestic violence so they can live their lives free of abuse at 1-800-799-SAFE.

Safe Surrender of Newborns

North Carolina’s Safe Surrender Law allows a parent to surrender a newborn up to seven days old to a responsible adult without the parent providing his or her name. Safe Surrender is legal and aims to prevent newborns from being hurt or abandoned.
